Recommendations for Success:
1. Expect to study at least 15-20 minutes every day outside of class. Even if you don't have homework, review your vocabulary or a new grammar concept. Language learning is a continuous process and the more you practice, the better you become! 2. Listen to music or the radio in Spanish, watch TV or movies in Spanish, and try speaking to anyone who will listen, as often as possible! 3. Learn new words in context: Flashcards are definitely a useful tool for memorizing vocab (Quizlet.com is an online tool for this, though I recommend hand-writing your words). However, it is most helpful if you can also create sentences and/or invent helpful hints that are unique to YOU to help you remember the word. Personalizing language helps you make connections and learn faster! 4. Check out the "additional resources" tab for sites to help you practice and expose yourself to Spanish! See the links below for suggestions on what you can do to help your child get the most out of his/her time in Spanish class this year. How can I help my child learn a language? More tips! |
Profe's Expectations:
All students should:
I use Spanish as much as possible in the classroom, and expect my students to do the same- with me and with each other! Engage with energy and curiosity every day. Learning a language takes time and hard work, so patience is a MUST. But the rewards for learning a language are countless! You will grow and expand your knowledge of the world in which you live, the people with whom you can communicate, and ultimately, you will learn a lot about yourself. |
